Welcome friend! I’m Sharon... happily accepting my role of wife, empty-nest mom, and teacher. On many days, I also gratefully accept the role of “student” of my precious preschool class. And yes, I love the role of “porch-sitter.” I have this passion for porches, as you might guess.

I have loved porches all my life, with the earliest memories of being present on my grandmother’s porch. They are my fondest. From that porch, we could visit with the friends and neighbors driving down the small, rural lane. And from there, we could see the magnificent mountains and wide valley, both in ever-changing seasons. My grandmother would teach me the importance of appreciating God’s handiwork, the natural beauty surrounding us. And just as important, sharing it and God’s love with others.

It’s only fitting that the porch is where I love to write, sharing words of hope and faith written on my heart. Thanks to many classes of preschoolers over the years, I have also discovered the joy of writing children’s stories. Just watch a class of preschoolers absorbed in a story, and you can’t help appreciating the opportunities to encourage and shape children through the gift of a story.

So, pause with me on the porch and ponder life through the blessing of our words...
