Peace

Each fruit of the Spirit is a gift…unwrap it and grow.

Peace...

What comes to mind when you hear the word “peace”?

Throughout the year in my sweet class of littles, we talk about the fruits of the Spirit. I continue to love hearing the perspective of a preschooler when it comes to a word that’s broad in interpretation...even for most adults.

So, here we have it...thoughts on peace.

For one little boy, “peace” is when Anna’s grandfather built a mighty land for peace...to help people. Don’t you just love it?...a message of peace embedded in a Disney movie resonated with his 4 year-old heart. .
Love was also a theme as another child felt “peace” was loving your mom and dad. A sense of peace can definitely come from the security of family...even when you’re too young to quite verbalize it. Your head may not know it...but your heart does.

And finally, one little boy shared that “peace” meant being alone. Maybe he’s heard...”I need to be alone just a little ...for a little peace and quiet.” Most mothers have uttered those words throughout the busy days of raising young children. Yet, he may have made the connection as well...that we can find peace when we are alone...time to be still.

Peace...in its simplest terms as a fruit of the Spirit...is a feeling we get when we know God. What better way to know God than to spend time alone with Him? Whether we read a devotional, immerse ourselves in His word, or pause and pray...we can find peace in the stillness....even the aloneness.

Is it not surprising that we can find a sense of peace by turning to God? For He not only called us to live in peace with one another but just as important to be advocates for peace...to be peacemakers.

How can you foster a sense of peace within yourself? And, in turn, share with others?

For, after every “Peace be with you”...the reply is always “and also with you.”
