Hope

Children remind us to take life one step at a time. Thoughts inspired by them…

Hope...⁣
.⁣
Just a few weeks back, before life turned so surreal, I took time for a favorite activity in my classroom. As a few children worked on a project at my table, I “interviewed” them. I absolutely love to hear their thoughts on the meanings of various words.⁣
.⁣
Little did I know then, but this word couldn’t be more timely....Hope.⁣
.⁣
For two preschoolers, “hope” is....”you hope we win the game!” or “you hope to go to the park!” Both are great things to hope for...especially in our small, college town surrounded by many parks and trails. ⁣
.⁣
Yet one small friend summed it up in general...hope is when you think it might happen.⁣
.⁣
The blossoms on my trees are indeed a reminder of hope revealed. Months ago I thought they might bloom about now...I had hope for sure. In fact, I had more than just hope...I also trusted that they would. These blossoms typically appear this time of year. They have for the past twenty-some years of that tree’s life. And, despite the upheaval of everything else in the world these days, they bloomed without interruption. ⁣
.⁣
Hope. Trust. And, here’s the thing...to have hope, you also must have trust. They go hand in hand...they are so beautifully intertwined. For, if you question their coexistence, remember this...When we choose to trust, we are ultimately filled with the amazing gift of hope.⁣
.⁣
Hope and Trust...What reminds you of these today?
