Remember
Remember
for everything there is a season…
remember where you come from …
traveling this weekend, those words were not just uttered many times - they were lived.
we reminisced as we visited all the spots that together created a childhood.
live far enough away from a childhood home - especially one where family no longer lives - and a trip to “where you come from” is all the sweeter.
it’s not surprising you savor it all the more. It’s far easier to take a place for granted unless you’ve traveled away.
remember where you come from …
it may mean something different to each of us - and I would never try to explain the meaning on behalf of the one who shared these words … words written on a grown-up heart and soul, overflowing this weekend with reflection.
but, it made me think about what they might mean to me …
remember - a place where you began your first memories
remember - the people - both family and neighbors - who played a part in your story
remember - a community that set the tone of your day to day life
remember - all the many little but lasting things
so - in remembering it all (both happy and not) - you give thanks for beginnings. For being a child, these things were most likely out of your control. They were someone else’s decisions to make. Yet, they still mattered. They were woven together to create the start of a lifelong tapestry - your unique story.
remembering … feeling humble and grateful for beginnings … where you come from.
