Gentleness

Each fruit of the Spirit is a gift…unwrap and grow.

Gentleness....⁣ A fruit of the Spirit that reminds us of the importance of caring for things and others. It brings to mind images of fragile objects, such as these shells. ⁣ ⁣ Despite a year cut short in the classroom, I have still shared moments with my preschoolers over the past months. Thanks to the presence in my life of words such as FaceTime or Zoom, a connection with my class has remained. And with it, a treasured opportunity to peek into a preschooler’s thoughts.⁣ ⁣ “What does this word mean to you?”, I asked.⁣ ⁣ Gentleness....⁣ ⁣ For one, Gentleness is holding a newborn baby brother. For another, Gentleness is best described as having a pet and petting it so softly.⁣ ⁣ And then, I heard this. Gentleness is being quiet.⁣ ⁣ Oh how that struck a chord with me. For a fruit of the Spirit is given to us. It’s important enough that God wants it to find a home in our heart. It’s created to nourish our souls...bring us closer to His image in which we were created.⁣ ⁣ I can’t think of a better way to embrace the gift of Gentleness than to sit quietly. ⁣ ⁣ ...to sit quietly with others who need for us to just listen⁣ ...to sit quietly with our own thoughts before jumping to judgement⁣ ...to sit quietly at the feet of Jesus, simply seeking Him⁣ ⁣ Gentleness is indeed being quiet. And, is it any wonder that God places the most spiritual of thoughts on the hearts of His youngest children. ❤️⁣
